1890s Botanical Gown

Designed for a character I imagined to be a Victorian archeobotanist who’s entire wardrobe consists of dresses inspired by various plants. This specific gown combines clover, coriander, and picotee begonia.

On-going project

I have more ideas for this gown so updates will be posted as they are created.

The flowers were chosen for their color similarities and meanings: clover for “think of me,” coriander for “hidden worth or merit", and begonia for “harmonious communication.”

Though I love the details of this dress, originally this gown was designed with a business meeting in mind and I feel the collar may be too grand for that purpose. As I had already made the decision that this dress would be a transformation gown (going from day wear to evening wear), I will go back to my previous thumbnails to find a more suitable design for day and remove the sleeves of this for evening.
